 Internship at Sadaqat Limited

I started my Internship for the industry placement course in a globally recognized company i.e Sadaqat limited and here is an introduction of how my Industry placement is going and what I am witnessing and learning here.

Introduction of Sadaqat limited.

Sadaqat Limited is a business that was started by the Sadaqat family as a home textile business in Chinot in 1951. The business was based on values of honesty and quality. The business has grown over the years due to the complete dedication and motivation of it's employees and directors along with high-quality equipment and the art manufacturing facility. Sadaqat sources it's raw materials locally as well as globally to ensure high-quality standards along with competitive pricing. The CEO of Sadaqat limited Mr. Khurram Mukhtar says that they believe in only the best, and they challenge themselves to strive for excellence. Sadaqat Limited is continuously innovating to improve its systems, services, processes, and quality of products. Sadaqat limited is a well-integrated business model which controls it's entire supply chain, from raw materials provisions through processing, production and ultimately on to global distribution. Sadaqat's experience and it's exceptional leadership qualities makes Sadaqat limited stable, and able to grow.

Other than the worldwide expansion, Sadaqat limited has achieved different awards over the years such as 'Living the UN Global Impact Business Sustainability award 2017', 'Corporate Social Responsibility Award', 'Best Corporate and Sustainability Reports Award 2017' and 'Export Excellence Award 2019'.

Different products by Sadaqat Limited

Sadaqat produces different products and has separate buildings and design offices, staff and processing units for each of them. It works in home textiles which includes, bedsheets, pillow covers, cushions, quilts, comforters, etc, and has a knitwear section that includes knitted garments such as hoodies, sweatpants, etc, and denim. Sadaqat also prints and produces towels and three-piece women's eastern wear for its own brand called KHAS.

Daily events

The daily events at Sadaqat limited start from the perfectly organized work in the offices at 9am to the production processes in different units of the mill which function 24/7. The mill is organized and works in coordination with all departments such as HR, marketing, production, design creation, audit, etc.

As an intern, I visited different departments daily to get a deeper understanding of what the processes are from the raw material to the final product and its packaging. I also spent time working in the offices of research and development, design creations department as well as CAD/CAM where I learnt the basics of how some basic prints such as checks are created quickly and accurately, how they manipulate the designs sent by the customers and produce them in bulks. I also met and interviewed the managers of different departments and ask them questions of how they work with their department and what strategies they use to make their work perfect and successful.

The atmosphere and environment

The atmosphere and environment of the mill is generally clean and well maintained. The design offices can be maintained better however, they are well equipped with the needed designing gadgets and tools such as availability of all the required software and pentablets on each table. The processing units are cleaned regularly with proper systems for drainage and exhaustion.

Sadaqat's moto is 'a happy worker means a happy customer' therefore, the workers and all employees are well motivated and eager to work since their needs are considered essential. Sadaqat is passionate about nurturing the workforce by providing harmonious work environment. The HR staff specifically is very friendly and cooperative considering internees and their needs as very important and giving them extra attention by making tasks and plans for the period we will be working as interns so we can learn as much as possible.

However, the gender ratio is unequal with more males and fewer females which makes the environment a little uncomfortable to work in for females especially in the processing units. However, rest period and lunch break i.e for 1hr for the employees is considered vital and the office lights are shut in all the buildings so the employees can rest and have food. There are separate restrooms for the females to avoid any discomfort at this time.
